Liquid Grass

 Wheatgrass shot, jambajuice, smoothieking, nutrition

I’m in love…with….wheatgrass! Yes, I said wheatgrass. Want to know what it tastes like? You guessed it…grass! Sure, it’s debatable in the nutrition world what the benefits really are, but I can give a personal testimony that this robust green-natured liquid has me hooked.  I’ve had it twice now (several days apart) and the effects are aMaZing. I feel great and have tons of energy.  Because it’s such a detox for your interior space, I’ve heard recommendations to wait 3 days before ingesting again.  One ounce of this juicy concoction is equal to about 2.5 pounds of vegetables. Some claimed benefits:

• Helps remove toxic heavy metals from the body

• Improves the body’s ability to heal wounds

• Helps with skin problems such as eczema or psoriasis

• Helps improve blood sugar disorders

• Helps reduce and eliminate body odors

• Helps to cleanse the liver

• Natural energizer

• Great for proper bowel function

You can purchase them here JambaJuice or here SmoothieKing. Added hint: ask for an orange juice chaser.

Knowledge turned into action is power. Now that you know, cheers to your next wheatgrass shot!

**I do recommend keeping up with your daily vitamin intake!

Chicago

I recently was in Chicago for a few days. Amazing weather this time of year! I was right off the river in downtown. Although I didn’t have time to use it, I was delighted to see the hotel offered a running map, as the hotel location wasn’t too far from the Lakefront Path along Lake Michigan.  It seemed everywhere I looked were people fitted with yoga mats, running gear and even business suits complete with running shoes. Love that city!

Extra healthy place I recommend next time you visit: http://www.theproteinbar.com/.

Olympics 2012

I don’t ever remember watching and being so invested in the Summer Olympics like I am this year. There’s just something about this year. There’s something about watching someone who has trained for so long and so hard reach for a goal. We have such little time here that being all you can be and striving for something greater is what our culture is yearning for right now. We seek inspiration. We seek accomplishment. I think we are all reaching. How do you become great? How do you make a difference? How do you bring joy to others? Just like the Olympics, we will blink and it’ll be done.   But during your time, if you can inspire someone to become more than they are, you’ve won gold.

5 Seconds to Adventure

We’ve all had those moments in life that frighten

…that incapacitate you to where you can’t put one foot in front of the other.

…those moments where you say no to something because it’s out of your comfort zone.

Whether it’s a physical or mental fear, we’ve all experienced it at one time or another. What if, before saying no, we let the fear overtake for 5 seconds and then we decide to overcome? We make a decision after 5 seconds…1…2…3…4…5…to rise above and conquer the fear. I think we’ll find ourselves stronger for it and maybe even find ourselves in new adventures. I think it’s healthy to experience fear. It’s an emotion, a physical and mental response that is part of our human framework. What I don’t consider healthy, though, is allowing yourself to reside in that fear…to let it prevent you from an experience that could open your heart to so much more.

One word to let you know where I borrowed this little 5 second rule: LOST

The Sky is the Limit

Follow along with me….place your hand over your heart. Close your eyes as you concentrate on the beat of your own heart……………………………

Let that serve as a reminder that you have a purpose. You are here with a beating heart to do something – to love something – to create something beautiful and meaningful.

The author of the famous Jurassic Park series did not start out as an author. He was originally on the Harvard path to becoming a doctor. He followed his passion, even if it took him on a different path.  Something to muse over….
