Amidst Skyscrapers

September is National Yoga Month (officially designated by the Dept of Health & Human Services). It’s a beautiful excuse for yoga studios and groups to come together, offering free yoga in maybe the not-so-familiar places. The idea behind these gatherings is to bring yoga to the masses who maybe haven’t encountered the joy that is yoga.  These events, which are held all over the nation throughout the month, have a very community feel to them. I had the honor of experiencing one of these events. Last Saturday, in the midst of skyscrapers, I was practicing yoga with a group of yogis I had never met. We came together as one, showcasing the art of yoga to the downtown community. People watching, dogs staring and traffic buzzing around us – we were the sense of calm among the commotion. And might I add, we had a DJ spinning our tunes – so Dallas!
